Job Description
Reports to Chief officer on all matters
• Assist Chief Cook as and when required
• Ensure all areas of responsibilities are kept clean, tidy, hygienic and well
maintained
Galley duties
Assist the Chief Cook:
• With the cleaning and hygiene of the galley.
• In the cleaning of all galley equipment.
• With the preparation of breakfast and dinner and catering of all meals - buffet
style.
Mess duties
• Set tables and attend to all meals service in the dining saloon
• Washing up of meal crockery and utensils in the dining saloon and duty mess
• Attend to port officials and receptions as required
Cleaning duties

• Clean all senior officers' cabins and toilets daily
• Clean all junior officers' cabins every second day (basic cleaning *)
• Clean the Radio room and perform a thorough cleaning ** on a rotation basis
• Keep spare cabins clean and ready for use
• Wax cabin floors and shampoo the carpet when needed
• Wash shower curtain in officers' bathroom monthly
• Change Officers' towels weekly and change linens every second week
* Basic Cleaning includes:
• Making of officers' beds
• Emptying waste bins and ashtrays
• Cleaning wash basin and commode in toilet
** Thorough cleaning includes what is required to keep the cabin clean. It is the
responsibility of the officers to keep their cabins neat and tidy.
Qualifications/Requirements
12 Months Sea time as Steward/Stewardess on foreign-going ship
